Overview
Mercury Mountaineer blends comfort and capability in a premium mid-size SUV and enters into 2010 with more features. The Mountaineer comes in two trims - Base and Premier. The Premier trim has become even more feature-rich for 2010 with a standard power moonroof and premium audio system with in-dash 6-CD changer. It also has a 10-way power driver and six-way power passenger adjustment with memory to accommodate a variety of drivers and passengers in complete comfort. Its heated leather-trimmed front seats include elegant perforated leather inserts now.
Power and performance
The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer comes in a choice of two engines: a 4.0-liter V6 that generates 210 horsepower and 254 lb ft of torque, and a 292 horsepower, 315 lb ft-torque 4.6-liter V8 engine. Both trims are given a standard two-wheel drive and an optional all-wheel drive. While the V6 comes with a five-speed automatic transmission, the V8 has a six-speed automatic transmission. Mountaineer Premier AWD can pull up to 7,040 lbs. when properly equipped. Between these engines, one can expect mileage of between 13 and 20 mpg.
Body and styling
The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer's exterior features include the 17-inch machined-aluminum wheels (Base), 18-inch satin-aluminum chrome-clad wheels (Premier), 20-inch polished-aluminum wheels (Optional on Premier), standard satin aluminum grille, tail lamps and side repeater lamps, fog lamps and auto lamp on/off delay head lamps.
The Base' interior features include cloth-trimmed low-back buckets, fold-flat 60/40 split bench seat, single-CD player, MP3 player, AM/FM radio (80 watts) with audio input jack, manual air conditioning, message center with 4-line display, Solar-tinted windshield and a privacy glass.
The Premier comes with leather trimmed seats, Premium Sound System with AM/FM stereo/6-disc in-dash CD changer with audio input jack and MP3 capability, subwoofer and 190 watts (includes single-CD player when ordered with Navigation System), Reverse Sensing System, SIRIUS satellite radio, and dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control. The available Navigation System with integrated SIRIUS Travel Link provides turn-by-turn voice guidance, gas prices, weather information, sports scores and movie listings. With the available SYNC the customers can place and receive phone calls and choose music on their MP3 player with simple voice commands. Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System with 8-inch screen is also optional.
Safety Features
The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer's standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC), helps to maintain control in adverse road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain.
Intelligent Safety System, air bags, safety canopy, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring system, SOS Post-Crash Alert System, and anti-lock braking system are other key safety features.
